Thursday Thirteen

Next Thursday, I’ll be attending my first ever large gathering of writers. In anticipation of the event, thirteen things I intend to do next Thursday at the RWA National Convention:

1) Jockey for the shower with three other women, which might possibly involve eye-scratching, hair-pulling and seeing one of ‘em naked.

2) Agonizing over what to wear. Will I be over-dressed? Under-dressed? Should I have re-vamped my wardrobe with last-minute shopping for capri suits?

3) Main-lining coffee so I’m alert enough in time for the Smart Bitches, Trashy Books / Dear Author / Samhain (?) Rogue Digital Workshop, to take place at ass o’clock in the morning (translation: 8:30).

4) Hitting the goodie room in my quest to recuperate my conference expenses via free books and bubble gum wrapped in manlove wrappers

5) Volunteering with luncheon set-up in preparation for lunch and motivational speech by (I think) Eloisa James. I could be wrong – I’m bad with names.

6) Rushing from workshop to workshop (can’t wait for Anne Stuart’s dark heroes workshop).

7) Helping a writer friend stalk an editor target.

8 ) Sipping wine at 4 pm at the Samhain Wine Extravaganza.

9) Partying with the Passionate Ink special interest chapter.

10) Either a) partying with the FF&P special interest chapter or b) resting in the hotel bar in preparation for

11) Gay cowboy karaoke, which might not compare to Wednesday night’s

12) Lesbian Jell-O wrestling (which I’ll be recovering from Thursday morning, hence the relevance to this T-13)

13) and, finally, passing out without removing my eye liner, all so I can get up and start again on Friday.

14) (Because I’m a cheater) – handing out www.scorchedsheets.com business cards like they’re candy.
